Now I already what know you’re thinking: “not another me-too marketing blog”. But wait, before you leave, give us a chance, because I can guarantee you one thing: we aren’t another me-too online marketing blog.
Here’s what I mean:
Our History
KISSmetrics isn’t technically our first company. We first started our entrepreneurial journey around 10 years ago by creating an online job board that was supposed to compete against Monster.com. That company didn’t succeed for many reasons, but the main one was because we didn’t know how to drive traffic to our own site.
Naturally we paid a few so called “marketing gurus” to build up our traffic, but each time we got burned, so we had no choice but to learn online marketing and do things ourselves.
I don’t mean to brag, but we got so good at it, that companies such as AOL, GM, Microsoft, and even Viacom started hiring us to do their online marketing. As you can probably already guess, we did a great job of boosting their traffic and more importantly increasing their revenue.
While we were doing this we noticed one major problem: these companies were paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for analytic solutions that were confusing the crap out of them. It was so bad that not only did they have to pay for these solutions, but they had to pay thousands of dollars to consultants to actually help them comprehend the data and figure out what they should do with it.
The KISSmetrics Story
That’s where KISSmetrics comes in–we created KISSmetrics to solve the pains these companies were experiencing with these other analytics solutions.
