      I’m a big fan of Buffer but Google+ functionality is a significant limitation.

      Is there any quantified data on the success of Google+ badges? It would be interesting to see some data there.

        I think currently buffer is best of breed, HootSuite has some great features but for mine I prefer Buffer. I don’t think there’s any concrete data on the badges, it would be good to see though.

        It’ll be interesting to see what pans out with the Direct Connect feature which they are attempting to roll out. At the moment I don’t think it’s any great success but it will be one to watch in the future, especially with the ever evolving Google Map/Places/Local situation. I can imagine that Google will try to focus more and more on Google Plus business pages as “the resource” and slowly point everything towards the Google Plus page. We’re already starting to see some of this with Adwords and I can’t see them reversing this trend.

  8. One of my most favorite thing about trending hash tags on Google+ is the autocomplete aspect. Helps to sort out in real time what other users are sharing and discussing.

    • Totally agree. I have often used this feature when using hashtags. I just start typing, then sit back and wait. You see more social platforms adopting this now, such as LinkedIn.

      We did a free stock photography thing on Google+ for a while, since we had so many unused photos from building sites. Worked really well when we did that, as stockphotos, freestockphotography, etc came up as a suggestion.

        yep hashtags is great and very useful to see what’s trending and hot. On occasions I use a combination of Google Instant, Plus Hastags and Linked Hashtags to help with brainstorming for articles and content pieces.

    Really great post. Every time I see a post written about Google+, I read it. I have never done a hangout and wait for it, I don’t use hashtags.

    Guess I’m really missing out. I do engage with others and share their posts if I think it’s worth sharing.

    I read a post this last week about Twitter getting rid of hashtags. From what I’ve seen people are none too happy about that.

      thanks for the great comment and I’m glad you enjoyed the article. You’re not alone in not using hashtags (though I’m shocked!) but they are a good way to tag your post into that stream and potentially gain more exposure.

      I actually think point 20 is one of the most important points in this post, I probably should have put it a bit higher and expanded if out a bit more (note for next time). But you will see some great communities on Google Plus and there are a load of ways to use them. For example you could make a community of marketers in your local area, then run Google Hangouts On Air and build out your brand that way. There are loads of ways to go about it.

  19. i usually add many google plus followers by adding to my friend and cyrcle. Although it takes much times but this is natural way to get them. I dont use a machine or auto add followers. I doesn’t make any sense of getting followers
