If you’re interested in submitting a guest post for KISSmetrics, please read on and we’ll let you know what we are looking for and how the process works.

Why Guest Blog?

I’m sure most of you understand the value of guest blogging. To boil it down, the one main reason why you should partake in guest blogging is: it’s a great opportunity to give back to the start-up and online business community by sharing valuable information with others. And as we all know, giving is receiving.

Here are some other excellent reasons:

  • Get your ideas in front of thousands of readers
  • Get your company known
  • Networking
  • And of course, the good old link to your website

A Statement from Leonard Widrich at Bufferapp.com

Leonhard Widrich wrote an excellent post entitled: 5 Tips To Make Your Startup’s Twitter Account Stand Out for us a few weeks ago. Here is what he had to say about his experience writing a guest post for KISSmetrics:

The opportunity to write a guestpost for KISSmetrics was fantastic. The exposure of our name increased considerably. In fact, someone even approached us in a coffee shop saying: “Hey, aren’t you the Buffer guys? I saw your guestpost on KISSmetrics today, great job!”. Additionally there is of course the SEO and traffic aspect which helped us greatly to get the word out about Buffer and attract additional users. Lastly, and this might be the most important part, I could improve my blogging skills considerably. Sean worked with me on the post, refined it and made suggestions on how to make it more compelling. In the long run, this learning aspect and relationship to a marketing expert like Sean is what trumps everything else.

Topics We Cover

Listen up! – This section is quite important.

A lot of people will make assumptions as to what would make a good guest post for our blog. However, we’re quite specific as to what content we’ll publish. Here is a list of topics we cover (the links below go to good example posts):

If you think you have a great topic that will benefit the KISSmetrics audience and it doesn’t fall into one of the above categories, feel free to send it anyway.

Quality Guidelines

We are looking for posts that teach and give value to our readers. We would like to avoid posts on topics that have been covered many times over. We are not looking for rehashed posts from other blogs. Here is the ultimate guideline:

“A KISSmetrics post should make our readers want to stop what they are doing, print out the article and spend the day applying what they have learned to their website or business”. To put it succinctly: Your post should be inspiring!

How To Submit A Guest Post

You don’t have to write your guest post in its entirety before you submit it to us. Just start with these easy to follow instructions:

  1. Come up with a blog post title. This is really 50% of the post’s magic. Spend time on this part.
  2. Spend 10 minutes writing an outline of your post. This gives us an idea of where you’re heading and it will let us know if the post will work. Plus is avoids you wasting your time if we end up rejecting the post idea.
  3. Email your post title and outline to Sean Work and he will get back to you!
