When I started planning this article, I had thought to do a run through of all of the best SEO tools out there that can help you with your link building.

But then I found this article on Search Engine Watch about 50 Tools to Automate Your Link Building and realized Jeremy Bencken had already beat me to it, so I’ll let you check out this guide to learn about all of the tools out there for link building!

Update: If 50 wasn’t enough, Jeremy has now added 30 more link building tools in a follow up post!

Link Builder’s Toolkit

The one tool that was not on the above mentioned list but I felt should be is the Link Builder’s Toolkit, an Excel file is packed with a lot of great places to get quality backlinks.

Each link resource also has PageRank and Alexa rankings, whether the sites are dofollow or nofollow, free or paid, and has a direct link to the submission page where applicable.

One Last Piece of Advice

Always remember while you are searching for great link opportunities that each resource will need to be evaluated carefully. Sites sometimes change ownership or administration – this means that what was once authoritative could now be unmoderated and dangerous. 1. Hey Kristi,
Another boring post, lol. I have learned that if your name is attached, it is going to be epic. Have I been under a rock for so long? I have not heard of many of these but plan on becoming close friends. Thanks for all the resources. I will be putting them to good use.

    • You know me Rob, always striving to combat insomnia, one post at a time. ;)

Glad you like the resources, and I hope they help in your link building efforts!

And while epic would be nice, I would settle for viral success any day!

      • Ryan Critchett Dec 28, 2011 at 12:38 pm

Hahahha. Combating insomnia. Nice, Kristi. Solid post, as usual. Checking out the 30+ more tools for link building.

  2. Its been great to bookmark a single url rather than bookmarking 79 different different…

    Loved the collections.

  3. Hi Kirsti,

Eric Ward is worth tracking down re link building strategies.

    • You know, I didn’t find an active blog on his site, but I do think he writes for Search Engine Land, so that should cover it. You can see his latest posts at :)

    • Ivan, exactly what I was thinking, then Eric pops up next.

  4. Looking forward to seeing some new articles. That list of 200 is a pretty awesome resource in itself! Thanks for stopping by to share it! :)

  5. This list will surely keep me busy for a while. Thx for the list!

  6. You may want to include I am not a affiliated to it but I simply want to add it on your list if you want real geeky stuff about SEO, IA, patents and all those sorts of stuff that you can use for your link building methods.

    • Hi Gary,

Thanks for the recommendation. I checked them out originally, but for this post I was specifically looking for blogs that somewhat regularly wrote about link building. They didn’t seem to have a category for it and I didn’t see any posts from this year when I searched it through their RSS feed. Otherwise they are a great blog though!

  7. Thanks Eric.

  8. Thanks for this collection, lot of useful resources!

  9. Cyrel Nicolas May 26, 2011 at 1:49 am

Whoa! Great resources. I am currently using Wordtracker ever since I venture in SEO. Well done.

  10. Thanks for this Kristi! I’ve never been a SEO savvy of sort but those sites you’ve cited are just gems to keep.

It is good to grow with the right materials at hand.

  11. Thanks for including my blog here Kristi :)

SEER Interactive’s blog is definitely a good addition to this list of link building resources, especially Napoleon Suarez’s posts (which are really hard hitting and ingeniously crafted).

  12. Justin Deaville May 27, 2011 at 6:49 am

    Thanks for mentioning Wordtracker.

If I may, I’d like to add a couple of resources to your list?

  14. Very good and big list of link building resources. I have added this blog post to my task list. I am eager to read each post and add my comment.

All SEO blogs have provided too many information on link building since last 5 months. So, we can understand that link building is also one of important part of SEO with on page stuff.

Now a days, due to bulk spam and panda effect SEO guys are focusing more on content of website and link building.

Quality link building is always matter and able to give us positive result in organic ranking.

    What you think about it?

  15. Wow great job with this! So many different SEO sites these days spouting advice, you have to read from a lot of different sources to get a complete picture (tho SEOmoz and some of the others near the top are very solid). I’m bookmarking this page tho, you have a few I cool ones I had never heard of – great work!

  16. This is one heck of a list of resources. I will be definitely utilizing some of these.

  19. Joshua Dorkin Jul 05, 2011 at 1:22 pm

Awesome list. There’s a few in there I missed . . . time to add 2 new blogs to the feed reader! Thanks.

  20. Really nice resources but most of them are nofollow links.

  21. This is really gold! I do agree with Jenni, its a pity they are NO-f :(

  22. So with Link Builder’s Toolkit, is it legit? I mean, there is so much link building software out there, that have nothing but junk links. I’m assuming that since you have it in this post where you reference some of the top SEO and link building people, it’s got to be for real.

Can you tell us more about this tool? Is there a ton of manual labor involved? I’m not against working hard; just want to know what’s involved.

The words “link building” feel like they don’t have any substance. There is nothing I can use from those phrases to ensure I can grow my business.

We live in a post-information age. There’s so much information around us that it’s turned information into noise. There’s half-truths, lies and stories / articles with agendas behind them.

The key I think is to eliminate the noise and go straight for your customer. Understand where they are and work on building relationships with those that can have a dialogue with your customers. I’d try to connect with influencers on Linkedin and others who have a lot of pull in the customer base you’re trying to reach.

  52. Thank you for all of those resources. They are very helpful. I think that link building is important when you want to increase your visibility but you must have good content in your website or in your blog.
